Barletter

The mission of this committee is to publish a bi-monthly newsletter as a vehicle for communication between members of the Bar. The Barletter contains highlights of bar activities, articles on legal issues, spotlights activities of colleagues and provides a calendar of bar events. (913) 782-1400

Membership
Scott Gyllenborg
The Membership Committee is responsible for receiving applications and contacting and welcoming new members to the Association. That welcome includes an introduction and personal conduct at a luncheon meetings as well as presentation of a certificate of the Creed and Tenets of Professional Conduct endorsed by the Association. The Membership Committee also plans ways to enhance a new member's association with our organization through the initial year membership. (913) 782-1400

Continuing Legal Education (CLE)

Grievance and Ethics

The Grievance and Ethics Committee meets four times a year and its individual members are called upon by the Chairman to handle specific investigations requested by the State Disciplinary Office. The Committee also informally handles complaints brought to it by the public through the Bar Association Office or officers. The Committee responsibilities include attorney up-dates through our lunch meetings and Barletter as reminders to adhere to the ethics of the profession. The Committee is also in charge of keeping up-to-date and publishing the Creed and Tenets of Professional Conduct of the Association. (913) 345-8100

Fee Dispute
Michael Seck
The Fee Disputes Committee is one of the most important "interface" committees with the community. The Fee Disputes Committee receives complaints from clients and initially tries informally to respond to questions about fees and to work with attorneys for resolution. If resolution cannot be obtained informally, there is a hearing procedure where the Fee Disputes Committee will hear complaints and review results of their investigation of the case.
